Reflection

My design is purposed to nearer the boundaries between Government and Community, by making the Political activities more flexible, less formal, then become part as society daily life. Response to design outcome, it is based on third person who hasn't involved with Australia Political engagement. However, by seeing a lot of different Political activities in the past 2 years, There is some gap between the development of the city and the political system. Australia Government give a lot of thought to improve their city by making better infrastructure, public spaces, etc, but it is limit in the recreational/ leisure type of activities. Thus, with lack of the development of Political information (in access able and interactive approach) indeed Brisbane need a device/ space that can gather all the information from the community and deliver it to Government.

Story of the Design

The design is separated into two parts, first is the main design and second is the distributed design that spread in a lot of public spaces in Brisbane. The story of how the design works is first is from the distributed design, it is located in the parks/public spaces (activated) thus, higher chance people will come to the space and experience it. When they contributing with one of the current issues that provided, they will then see visual image of their contribution actually change the situation in main design (Botanic Gardens City). So that, their curiosity is enough to walk them to go to Botanic Gardens City and see what's going on in there.

After amounts of people gather in main design, the political engagement can be held and all the process of decision-making is visible for visitors/users. As a result, Government will consider the main percentage of voice of the current issue. However, if Government still have other decision (not following community's main voice result) then we can't do anything. The design is the opportunity of Government and society to have active two-way communication, when the community become actively contribute with Political issues, Government should see the changes and make the right decision, because they are the one who got the power to rule.

01 When you passed the space, you will see informative screen, showing current events video and running text. Therefore, without coming in, you will be able to voguely capture what is going on right now.

02 By the time you getting closer to the space, it shows various features, including changing lights (event occurs) in the column structure and some water features.

03 In the inside, there are interactive panels which purposed for you be able to contribute with wide-range of issues regarding your city and Thus country. The result will be seen in the circle screen . This activities consider to be an active two communication between Government and Community.

04 And right in the middle, there is adjustable canopy that moves based on weather prediction. In addition, underneath the pillar is water feature which react from the result of current decision making.

URBAN FEATURE IN PUBLIC SPACES/ PARKS

Starting to distributed from CBD area and its surrounding. The feature is similar with the one in Botanic Gardens City, it contain informative panels that has updated in formation of current issues. And users can see live changes in Botanic Gardens City responding their contribution (of voting, decision making, etc) in screens above the panels,

By giving them a visual media of their contribution, hopefully it will attract people to come to Botanic Gardens City and create more various activities in there. 

The other function of this DISTRIBUTED spaces, is that become a seating place for people to spend their time chatting, relaxing, etc. And it can be consider as a meeting place, by giving unique identity to its surrounding.

Stair of Power

The current situation of power percentages, disallowing community to have free voice. thus, several key points should be distributed in order to achieve two-way communication between government and society

Detail space done

The module can be add or eliminate, depends with the site needs, providing the logistics aspect of temporary/ mobile feature in public space. Also it is has light weight, Thus, it is easily to carry and adopt to the current or prospect site development.
